Fast food?

(The fallowing is a complaint I filed with the
Dairy Queen Corporate offices just a half hour after my visit. I will post what they say in response)

Went to the Kemah TX. DQ location at about 8:10 pm. and pulled into the drive through. I sat for 11 minutes before I got to the menu. I waited for another 3-4 minutes before she took my order. She keep asking me to repeat what I said. (I could see her walking back and forth from register to Ice cream dipping station.) Once she finally got my order, I sat for another 21 minutes before I got to the window. There She took my card and gave me a total of $35. I knew that there was no way that my meal cost that much. So I told her it wasn't right. She then realized that she had not charged the customer in front of me and then tried to fix it. By that point I had all But lost it.(still think I paid too much) The new total was for $26.13. Waiting again.(few more min.) After over thirty minutes in line, I FINALLY got my food. I asked her if it was a busy night and she said.."No... only ice cream orders. You're the only one with food." Now, you can't tell me that it takes 30+ minutes to make ice cream for four cars in front of me. Ya getting it straight from the cow? When I got home and sorted out the food. It seemed ok. till I drank my soda. Next time I would like a little syrup with my carbonation. I had strait fizz.

I am a huge DQ fan, but after tonight, IT MAY BE A WHILE BEFORE I CAN COME BACK! sadly, that left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth in more ways than one.
(Side note...I've done secret shopping for years. If I were to rate my shop today I would fail this location.)

The service was far from satisfactory! My time of departure from the window was approximately 9pm

You could hardly call that fast food.

I"d make sure you check your credit/debit card too. I bet they didn't charge you correctly...

I had a similar experience with this DQ. They are not only slow & cost a fortune, but the inside of the restaurant is disgusting. Blech. I will DEFINITELY not return to this location as well.

Friday, March 23, 2012   I received a phone call from my oldest daughter Alana's Kindergarten teacher. Mrs Munos was concerned that Alana wasn't acting her bubbly self.  I had noticed that she seemed to have been sleeping a lot and wrote it off to the time change and just getting back from spring break. But now I had a little flag from her teacher.  I began to wonder if there was something wrong with her.  My first thought was depression.  So I sent her out on a Daddy Daughter date with my husband to see if it would boost her spirits. No such luck.  I've never heard of a child being so glum at the Kemah Boardwalk. But in fact, she hardly cracked a smile. Over the weekend Alana seemed to get worse.  She slept for a good part of church on my lap and I really began to worry.  Alana was eating like a teenage boy, drinking a ton of water and using the restroom several times an hour.  My husband, Chris, even thought she might have mono. ...

Hugs Jugs

We D-Mommas are always looking for low carb options for our kids.  While at Kroger yesterday, I felt compelled to check the carb counts on Little Hug Fruit Barrels.   I was very surprised to find that one Hug was only 2 grams of carbs and twenty count box is only $3! I was so excited that I bought two boxes.   When it came time to pick the girls up from school, the excitement was still flowing through my veins.  So I packed a few in my purse to give the girls in the car on the way home.   Results of the taste test were awesome.  Alana loves them.  Not to mention that they made her feel more like a normal kids.  Normal is great in my book.   I'm trilled that I no longer have to by different drinks for all the girls.  The price, taste and nutritional facts make Hugs a winner in our home.

All in the Family?

 This is one of the saddest posts I've had to write in some time... Two weeks ago I got a phone call from my brother in law, Brad.  He started the conversation with a little laugh and "I think your Alana has rubbed off on Reed" I was perplexed.  Oh no.  What did Alana do now?   "It looks like Reed is a type 1 diabetic too" I was floored.  I had just gone to Alana's school to give a talk on T1D, now we have another child in my husband's family who is insulin dependent. (My pancreas prop) Reed and Alana were born a year and two days apart. Reed had to go to the hospital in DKA on his tenth birthday.  It's the worst birthday present EVER!!! I felt hopeless and all I wanted to drop everything and fly out to Utah to help out.  But Alana was turning nine the next day and there was just no way I could make it happen.  So we scheduled to skype that night.
