Let the invasion begin... (AAAAAAhhhhhhh... Not again!)

Image
I wish the spiders would just stay away! I was much more comfortable with them being gone for the winter. But alas, with warm weather comes the creepy crawly things that make me itch at the thought of them. They're everywhere. My pantry, shoes, all corners of the house and the worst... THE GIRLS Bedroom! Two weeks ago I started noticing these strange bug bites on Alana eyelids and then her side. We couldn't figure out what was causing them... Till today. I thought that maybe it was spiders under Alana's bed since that is where we store her box spring that is not in use. Sure enough, today when I pulled out her bed to vacuum, and I was freaked to find not 1, not 2 but FIVE spiders. Poor girl. No wonder why she is terrified of bugs. They must have been hunting and feeding off her for weeks. By the way... I'm calling the bug guy first thing in the morning!

"Mother Duck said Quack... Quack... Quack... and two little dicklings came simming back"

Image
Saturday Chris and I took the girls to one of our favorite hole in the walls for lunch. When we drove up we noticed a bunch of little ducklings running around in the parking lot. They were so cute! They could only be a few weeks old. Lunch was interesting. Chris got inventive as to how to entertain the girls... ...Yes, That's sugar, right out of the packet! Alana thought they might be hungry, so she saved some of her lunch for the ducks. MMmmmm... French fries! You can really tell it's spring. It's been raining a ton and there are puddles everywhere. I love looking around and seeing all of the new life.

My Babes on the Boardwalk!

Image
Yesterday, I decided to take a break from everything and take the girls to the Boardwalk for the first time since the Hurricane Ike. I was kind of worried about it at first because I know a lot has changes in the last six months. When we drove through Kemah, there were many things that were still in wreckage, including my favorite gift shop, Island Treasures. A little story about the place... I ordered a "Pink Pirate Flag" for Alana's birthday from there. I received a call just a few days before the storm hit that it was ready to be picked up. Let's just say that my flag had found it's final resting place out at sea. Kind of sad. I got teary eyed when I drove past the place because I had made friends with the owner. To see the circle x thingy painted (for bodies, sorry I don't know what it's called) on the walls of what was left of the building was hard to see. There is still a lot of construction going on at the boardwalk it's self. The salt w...

"Ketchup Soup!"

Image
Today Alana discovered the power of Tomato soup (or Ketchup Soup as Alana likes to call it) and Grilled Cheese sandwiches. It took me back to my childhood for a brief moment. To see the look on her face was something I'll never forget. The pure joy of finding a new love. What a moment!

Ariana's first drawing.

Image
Today Ariana completed her first work of art. She did such a good job concidering I haven't let her do it before. The last couple of days she has shown an extreme interest in crayons, paper and pencils. So I thought, What the heck, gave her a color pencil and paper and let her at it. I'm so proud. She's growing up so fast!

Easter pictures

Image
I know I'm late on this. There's been a lot going on around here and I've been busy, busy with work. I guess late is better than never. Saturday Alana and I colored eggs. Well, Alana colored her hand and I colored eggs. Easter Day! The girls woke up Easter morning, and it seemed that Ariana found her basket right way. She had all types of goodies, like a microphone, ladybug car, pin wheel candies...etc. Alana on the other hand walked past her basket on several occasions as signified by the first shot. We played an uneventful version of HOT AND COLD and after about 15 minutes and a lot of help she finally found it. And BOY was it worth the wait. Yep, Alana got that fishing pole that she has been begging for months for. It's not like we are going to actually go fishing with it. She only wants it to go "CAT FISHING" as we call it. Again in the picture above. The egg hunt was very fast both girls are 'EGGSPERT" egg hunters. After the hunt Alana put th...

Easter Bunny at Walmart?

Image
It was an odd thing to see the Easter Bunny at Walmart today. Alana Was happy seeing him from afar but Ariana walked right up to him and "Hopped" right on to his lap. She was fine till he talked. She may only be one, but she knew that bunnies don't talk. Freaked out for a brief moment then sat quietly on Mommy's lap. They gave us a free 5x7! This may be the only picture of me all year folks... So take it in.

Alana..."The Crazy Cat Lady"?

Image
I'm scared for the sake of my future grandchildren. I have so many pictures of Alana like this it's not even funny. I'm truly scared that she will not bare children for the fact that she is so nuts for cats. Do you remember "Tiny Toon Adventures"? I personally loved the show as a kid. Elmyra was a character that reminds me of Alana in her current stage. Check out this clip to see what I mean. So what's a mom to do. I can't tell her that she can't love animals. She could be drop kicking them. All she wants to do is love them. Maybe she'll grow out of it. Only time will tell.

This is why I love Craig's list.

I found this great doll bed yesterday and had to have it. I've been looking for one to use as a studio prop for a while and didn't find anything I liked. Quit searching until on a whim, I checked last night and BAM! There it was. With a little work I got her looking tip top for my client tomorrow. Below is a test shot I did with Ariana. I think it worked out great!

"Olsen's Believe it or NOT" (Like Ripley's With out the crazy shrunken heads)

Image
Two of these stories are facts, One of them is not. Can you spot the NOT? Is it "A"? Alana eats Brisket and ice cream together. Is it "B'? Alana grows the chest that she has wanted for the last two weeks. Or is it "C" Alana's lives her own tale of Cinderella at the Houston Zoo Are you ready for this? "A" is true. While visiting with family this weekend Alana found a great new love for Brisket. She even asked for more at desert time, piling a heap of the smocked goodness on top of her cookies and cream ice cream. "C" is also True. While visiting the Houston Zoo this weekend, Alana's clear jelly sandal fell into the sea lion tank during the show. She balled until the Kamia the Sea Lion retrieved it and took it to her trainer. After the show, they brought it to our little Cinderella clean from all the gross seal water. Alana felt special all day. We even got a stuffed sea lion and named it Kamia after her little shoe saver. ...
