Where's Ariana?

We'll, I've had some people ask why I haven't posted any new pictures of Ariana lately. The answer is that she has eczema on her face (as seen in the photo above. This is when it first showed up a few weeks ago. It's much worse now). Today we went to the doctor after trying multiple treatments, and found something that seems to be working for her. We are putting cortisone on it twice a day and keeping it covered with vasseline all day. It's hard to look at because she has such an adorable face.

We initially went in today to have her iron checked. Shes been anemic every time she has blood work. We'll find out the results in a few days.

We also talked about Ariana's gap in her teeth and about the possibility of clipping the skin between her lip and her gums. She decided that the best advice would be from a dentist. So I'll be making appointments soon.

Ariana has had so many more problems than Alana has had health wise. I just hope thing get a little easier for the little one.

Poor sweet Arianna. I hope she gets better quick. I love the picture of her. No matter what, she is and always will be so beautiful. Play those pots and pans!! Good luck with everything.

Poor girl. Her face has got to be so itchy! I can't even imagine. Keep us all posted on how it goes and what the dentist says. I'm sure the health issues will smooth themselves out over time. By the time Jordan was 2ish, all her stuff was coming together. I'm sure it'll be similar with Ariana.

Friday, March 23, 2012   I received a phone call from my oldest daughter Alana's Kindergarten teacher. Mrs Munos was concerned that Alana wasn't acting her bubbly self.  I had noticed that she seemed to have been sleeping a lot and wrote it off to the time change and just getting back from spring break. But now I had a little flag from her teacher.  I began to wonder if there was something wrong with her.  My first thought was depression.  So I sent her out on a Daddy Daughter date with my husband to see if it would boost her spirits. No such luck.  I've never heard of a child being so glum at the Kemah Boardwalk. But in fact, she hardly cracked a smile. Hugs Jugs

We D-Mommas are always looking for low carb options for our kids.  While at Kroger yesterday, I felt compelled to check the carb counts on Little Hug Fruit Barrels.   I was very surprised to find that one Hug was only 2 grams of carbs and twenty count box is only $3! I was so excited that I bought two boxes.   When it came time to pick the girls up from school, the excitement was still flowing through my veins.  So I packed a few in my purse to give the girls in the car on the way home.   Results of the taste test were awesome.  Alana loves them.  Not to mention that they made her feel more like a normal kids.  Normal is great in my book.   I'm trilled that I no longer have to by different drinks for all the girls.  The price, taste and nutritional facts make Hugs a winner in our home.

All in the Family?

 This is one of the saddest posts I've had to write in some time... Two weeks ago I got a phone call from my brother in law, Brad.  He started the conversation with a little laugh and "I think your Alana has rubbed off on Reed" I was perplexed.  Oh no.  What did Alana do now?   "It looks like Reed is a type 1 diabetic too" I was floored.  I had just gone to Alana's school to give a talk on T1D, now we have another child in my husband's family who is insulin dependent. (My pancreas prop) Reed and Alana were born a year and two days apart. Reed had to go to the hospital in DKA on his tenth birthday.  It's the worst birthday present EVER!!! I felt hopeless and all I wanted to drop everything and fly out to Utah to help out.  But Alana was turning nine the next day and there was just no way I could make it happen.  So we scheduled to skype that night.
