We're Baaaaaaack!

Here is a long story made short....

Monday morning, Chris, the girls and I got up and finished packing the few things that were floating around that we hadn't added to our luggage. We loaded the car and drove to Lancaster where we stopped for lunch at Carl's Jr. While eating lunch, Chris received a phone message that our flight was delayed. Right away I knew we were going to be facing a very long night.

We arrived at Burbank Airport to find out that Most of DFW was delayed due to thunder storms. We were still not at ease with this knowing that our connecting flight to Hobby was soon after our arrival. "Soon after" was a major overstatement. We landed in DFW right as our flight to Hobby was taking off. But we didn't know that. So we RAN! With both girls in tow, bags and might I add blood clotted led and torn LCLs. Both of us in severe pain but doing what ever it took to get to the gate in time. What a waste.

After finding out that we missed our flight, Chris jumped on the horn and tried to find the next flight out for us. We were so mad that there were NO AA agents anywhere near our terminal. Seriously... What airport starts shutting down at 8pm? The Service agent on the phone then directed us to go to a gate on the complete OPOSSIT side of the airport. And if you know DFW, you know you have to use a tram to get from terminal to terminal. It SUCKS! On several occasions I wanted to put my arm in the air and say "Black man in a Golf Cart". I was so done. (BTW that's a Ralphie May quote) I was so tired of walking and carrying around kids and luggage I had all but given up.

So we finally get to this gate and see a line of people cussing out the attendants in spanish. This processed for another 45 minutes. It was bad. When it was finally our turn, we were told that there were no other flights out that night and that we would have to wait till the morning. They were only going to compensated us with a discount coupon for a hotel. So we tried calling all the rental car companies to try and get a car so we could just drive home. It's about 3 hours drive and we were willing to do what ever it takes to get home. After a failed attempt at getting a car the attendant saw how desperate we were and gave us full accommodations for a hotel in the area and even got a bag and our car seats out of luck up. Who knew it would be another hike across the airport?

The next morning we woke up bright and early and rode back to the airport. We went to the gate given to us by the ticket counter and waited. And waited... till over the intercom we here something about our flight boarding at another gate... "WHAT?" So again... Chris and I are booking it, kids, bags and bad legs. We got there and thankfully they hadn't boarded yet. I then had an asthma attack right there in the terminal. It was awful. After all the commotion we flew home to Houston and was jolted back into reality with a very scary landing. RTA plans are creepy to begin with. The Fish Tail landing just made it worse. But at that point I was just happy to be home.

We gathered our luggage...surprised it all made it... and headed home. We were greeted with and over grown lawn, a broken vase, dead fish and three little kitties that made a mess of our hall way. Service Master came out right away to help us clean the carpet. Thank goodness.

Again, just glad to be home. At last!

WElcome home- Waiting for pics since we missed it. Have fun with Blake. Sorry about your flight...next time call me and I can make a reservation for you prior to waiting in line--sometimes this gives you the advantage of getting a seat when it otherwise may not be available!
